Help Support Jaimie Alvarez’s Stroke Recovery

On September 3, 2025, our lives were changed in an instant. Our sister, Jaimie only 41 years old, suffered a major stroke early that morning. She had just started her usual routine getting up and heading downstairs to pack lunch for her 13 year old son, Jesiah, who is autistic when the stroke hit.

Jesiah, though nonverbal and unable to speak in full sentences, could sense something was terribly wrong. He watched as his mom was taken away by ambulance, a moment that no child should ever have to witness.

She was first taken to Marshall Hospital and then transferred to UC Davis for advanced care, where she continues to receive treatment. Since then, she has faced a series of critical medical challenges undergoing cranial surgery to relieve brain swelling, high blood pressure, fevers, and episodes of low heart rate. Every time it feels like she’s making progress, a new complication seems to arise.

She currently has movement on her left side and only minimal movement on her right. She is also currently unable to speak and will need extensive speech therapy in addition to physical therapy. The road ahead is long and uncertain, but we are hopeful that with continued care and rehabilitation, she can regain her abilities and return home to her son.

Jesiah misses his mom deeply. He asks about her every day and understands, in his own way, that she’s at the hospital getting better. Due to his age and the medical equipment involved like her tracheostomy he hasn’t been able to visit, which is incredibly hard on both of them.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help with medical expenses and to support her transition to rehab and recovery. Anything raised will go directly toward her care, including physical and speech therapy, and helping her eventually return home to her son Jesiah, husband and family.
