I’m Jojo , Jaime Munoz’s best friend and brother, and I never thought I’d be the one writing this.
A few days ago, I got the call no one is ever ready for. My brother Jaime had collapsed from a massive heart attack. By the time paramedics reached him, his heart had stopped. He was in full cardiac arrest. For the longest fifteen minutes of our family’s life, his brain went without oxygen.
Somehow, by the grace of God, Jaime is still with us. The doctors will tell you that what happened next defies the odds. Most people don’t survive what he survived. He did. That’s not luck. That’s a miracle.
He’s in the ICU right now, intubated, sedated, and slowly fighting his way back. He’s already shown small signs of waking, opening his eyes, nodding when asked. The doctors are cautiously hopeful, but his road ahead is long and uncertain. And his four kids, who love their dad more than anything, are waiting for him to come home.
If you know Jaime, you already know why we’re fighting this hard for him.
Jaime is the guy who shows up. The one who answers the phone at 2 a.m. The friend who drives across town to help you move, fix your car, or sit with you when life falls apart. He’s the connector who’s made countless people feel like somebody, getting friends into shows, special events, and unforgettable nights they still talk about. He’s spent his whole life taking care of people, never expecting a thing in return. He’d give you the shirt off his back and then apologize for it being wrinkled.
If Jaime has ever taken care of you, now it’s time for us to take care of him.
This isn’t his first fight either. Years ago, Jaime survived a serious health crisis that should have taken him out. He came back from that one with the same humble grit he carries every day. Now he’s facing the hardest battle of his life, and the family he’s poured into for so long needs to pour back into him.
That’s why I’m asking for help.
We’re raising funds to help cover:
• ICU and hospital costs that insurance won’t fully absorb
• Ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, and therapy as he recovers
• Lost income while Jaime is unable to work
• Day-to-day living expenses for his four children, so they can stay focused on dad coming home, not on bills
How the funds will reach Jaime: I am organizing this fundraiser as Jaime’s best friend and brother. 100% of funds raised will be transferred directly to Jaime’s immediate family to be used for his medical care, recovery, and household needs. I am committed to full transparency and will provide updates on how funds are being used as Jaime’s recovery progresses.
