On Sunday, November 30th, 2025, Paramedic Jaime Knight, who has spent more than a decade responding to 911 calls, rendering care to those in need, often above her own needs, suddenly became critically ill while on duty in Westchester County with American Medical Response (AMR). She is also a longtime employee of BronxCare, a busy 911 provider for the South Bronx.

Her partner immediately jumped into action, started evaluating and treating her on scene, and she was rushed to the nearest emergency room in rapidly deteriorating condition.

While being triaged in the ER, Jaime’s condition declined and she suddenly went into cardiac arrest. The team of both EMS and ER staff fought hard and thankfully regained pulses on Jaime, but her condition remains critical. She is now in the ICU and has since been transferred to Westchester Medical Center for a higher level of specialty care. Doctors have discovered she’s battling multiple DVTs, pulmonary emboli, and a left-sided stroke.

Jaime is a widowed mother of four beautiful children who she devotes her life to, often working multiple overnight shifts a week at BronxCare/Citywide and AMR in order to ensure they are able to attend school and meet every need they have of her. She has spent her entire career saving lives and showing up for strangers on their worst days while simultaneously brightening the days of everyone around her. Now she’s the one who needs us. This is the moment for the EMS community, her friends, loved ones, partners, colleagues, AMR and BronxCare families, and anyone she’s ever helped to come together and wrap her and her children in love, strength, and support, especially through this holiday season.

Jaime has always been a fighter and has never gone in to lose in her entire life. Let’s stand with her as she fights this battle and ensure that she has the backing she truly earned and deserves.
