Team Jaime Enters Hospice

Story

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, Jaime Petersen entered hospice care. I am asking Team Jaime -- all of Jaime and Megan's friends, family members, and colleagues -- to make this change of direction with them. I have Megan's permission to launch this campaign, and this will be the official site for the family.Let us support Jaime and Megan not only in our hearts, minds, and with loving presence, but also through financial gifts from all of us who are able to offer such.Jaime was first diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2010. She had surgery, chemo, and aftercare drugs. She was re-diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in January 2014 after experiencing back pain that did not get better. This breast cancer has spread to her bones, liver, and now to a sinus. The various treatments have all worked for a time, and have given her years of life, but now those treatment options have ceased to be effective and there are no alternatives left to either extend life or cure this disease.I anticipate the following financial needs that these funds will help mitigate: 1.) Quality of Life: Having Megan present at home and funds available for activities as Jaime's energy allows will make these final months the best they can be. Megan will begin family medical leave from her job soon. While she has accumulated some paid time off, she will need to replace lost income.2.) Medical and End of Life: Medical insurance does not cover all the care Jaime has had or will receive. Funds also are needed to pay for funeral expenses.Thank you, everyone.
