Support Jaida's Ducks: Help Create Their Sanctuary

In January 2025, something unexpected brought forth a need to rehome a flock of ducks to our little backyard farm here in Pedricktown. The flock, we affectionately call "Jaida's Ducks" have some needs and we are seeking help.

Jaida Small Nipe was from Pennsville, NJ. She loved the beach, dancing, spending time with friends and family, and she had aspirations of becoming a dental hygienist. Jaida also really loved animals. She had her little flock of 9 beloved ducks, which she raised and cared for from ducklings.

Tragically, Jaida's life was cut short just before her 22nd birthday in a car accident, an unimaginable and devastating loss for her loved ones.

Ducks require a great deal of daily care & Jaida's family is, understably, facing extremely difficult loss. The care of her ducks became too much to bear, as they are dealing with the immense grief, and a very difficult decision was made to rehome them.

Our families had been connected through friends and also via the backyard duck community. We often exchanged tips and advice on duck rearing, so when we learned of the unfortunate and urgent need for Jaida's ducks, we didn't think twice about extending our home to them.

Fortunately, we had several helping hands who jumped on a day above freezing, in early Feb, to quickly set up a temporary enclosure and moved the ducks to their new yard.

Jaida's ducks are here now and getting acclimated to their surroundings. Our intention is to build a more permanent and optimal habitat for the ducks to live out their best lives. The money raised will go towards land clearing, construction of a new enclosure, swimming amenities, environmental optimization (groundscaping), food, and any future vet bills.

Our goal is to ensure that Jaida's Ducks can remain together and live out the rest of their days in Duck Wonderland. Additionally, we intend that the enclosure will benefit other ducks that may have special needs or need to be rehomed due to unforeseen circumstances. We are working to secure a non-profit account for ongoing care opportunities beyond the horizon. The rescue/sanctuary will be in memory of Jaida so that her love of animals (especially ducks) will have a long-lasting impact for years to come. In her honor, ducks in need will have a home.
