On Friday, January 30, our family had one of our worst fears come true, as one of our own, Jafet Lezama, was detained by ICE in the Brooklyn Center area while delivering essential items to a friend.
As the primary provider for his family, his detainment will cause his two children, a 13-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son—to need help covering their living expenses. His detainment is not only affecting his children but also many of our family members who are deeply saddened by this situation.
We hope to raise funds to help cover potential immigration legal fees, and the essential living expenses his children will need during this difficult time.
A shared belief within the Latino is to not ask for any handouts, but given the circumstances, we are putting our pride aside and turning to our community for support.
Any donation or share means so much to us. We have called Minneapolis our home for years and all we want is help to try to get Jafet back home to us.
Thank you,
— The Lezama-Carrasco Family
