Support Jae's Earthship Academy Journey
Please help me graduate from Earthship Biotecture Academy and become able to build self-sufficient, sustainable, autonomous homes/buildings made of recycled materials. I first saw Earthships when I was 15 years old on the internet and knew that this is the kind of solution based healing to climate change and poverty that I needed to contribute to.
Earthships address our global trash problem by building with tires, recycled glass and plastic bottles, and other items that would end up polluting our oceans and soil. Indoor greenhouses for food security, on site water treatment, and regenerative power sources such as solar. They have built homes, schools, and centers with these design principles and strategies.
Below are pictures of the exterior / interior of an Earthship in New Mexico.
Graduating from Earthship Biotecture Academy is a three step process:
( you can check out their website here: https://www.earthshipglobal.com )
1) Attend Earthship Biotecture Academy in Taos, New Mexico this September to learn how to design and build completely self-sufficient and sustainable living structures and homes. This is a month-long program where I learn design concepts and principles such as solar power, indoor food cultivation, water treatment, building with recycled materials, carpentry, etc. And also practice hands-on building on in- process projects on the campus. tuition: $3000
2) Attend a field study. After my month in Taos, I was planning on continuing Earthship education by helping with Phase 2 of a school on the island of La Gonave, off the coast of Haiti. Just yesterday, on August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the island, leaving devastation inits wake. Haiti was already trying to heal from centuries of unrest and devastation. My trip to Haiti is on pause due to the Earthquake. The crew is still planning the build and is still in need of support. Now is the time to donate money to people who are truly on the ground, intentionally empowering Haitian leadership through these the builds.
The four week field study would be practice in building a tropical model Earthship, while also supporting local Haitians in learning how to build and maintain these structures and maintain the autonomous nature of the school. This knowledge transfer and circulation is extra special to me because it would be happening in the very place responsible for setting off the most important revolution in modern history that led to enslaved Africans becoming free all over the world. To me, Earthships are a gateway into even more freedom and autonomy from systems that exploit the land and the people. You can still donate to the project to support the build in general with the link below.
* While my trip is on pause, I may still go to Haiti in October, depending on what happens between now and Mid-September. To donate to my participation fee for Haiti, please make sure that you add my name (Jae Scott) to the comment section when making your donation: my participation fee is $1200

3) The final element that would allow me to graduate from Earthship academy is independent study. I've wanted to build an Earthship since I was 15 years old studying climate change and creative solutions to it. I am hoping to be able to build an Earthship that would be a community center for Black, Indigneous, People of Color that would focus on empowerment, health, and increasing our overall freedom. Intersectional and multidisciplinary education, arts, and healing would be the focus. As I am also studying to be a massage practitioner, this Earthship would also be a space for Black/Afro/Indigenous healers and medical professionals to offer healing services to the community.
Free housing. Growing our own food. Rematriating the land to Indigenous people. Building towards liberated Black futures. There is so much potential for what this first Earthship can be, and with your help we can create something magical that will increase freedom for all of us.
All of the funds raised and donated for my Taos and La Gonave trips are going to the building of Earthships, which are saving the planet in more ways than one. Any further contributions would be going to my independent study to secure my graduation from Earthship Biotecture Academy. No one person will be benefiting from this knowledge, I am called to learn these skills so that I can share them with the world. This is all not for profit, this is about radically changing the trajectory of life from suffering to freedom. Please help me make this beloved dream come true!
Any contribution helps and is greatly appreciated! And please share this and spread the word far and wide, as this type of work truly takes a village.
Thank you very much!!!!! If you have any questions, please let me know!
with so much love,
