Hello All, My name is Christopher Spraker, father of Jaelyn Spraker. Last weekend at US Mogul Selections in Winter Park, CO, Jaelyn had a bad wreck resulting in a fractured L1 vertebra that will keep her out of competition for most of the season. Jaelyn was very lucky as the L1 vertebra holds part of your spinal cord. What a scary moment to hear this news as the Winter Park clinic could not tell if the fracture was stable or not. Not knowing if there was any ligament or nerve damage, we had to put her in an ambulance for safe transport to Denver Health in Denver, CO. Once there, we spent most of the day and into the early morning with the doctors doing every test we could to ensure the fracture was stable and her spinal cord was not in jeopardy. She endured a CT scan, CT scan with contrast, X-rays, ultrasound, and finally an MRI. At this time, they determined that the fracture was in fact stable and no surgery was needed. Once home, we were able to see the most amazing doctors at Steadman Clinic for further care to get her back on the hill and with her peers as quickly as possible, also with the help of her AVSC ski team trainer. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a setback as Steadman lengthened her time out and put her in a back brace for the next 3 months. Although this was not the news we wanted, we have all the trust in the world with Steadman as they are the best in the country, if not the world, at what they do. we are fundraising to cover the medical expenses and support Jaelyn's recovery.. any help is much appreciated. Please share and donate if you can, thank you so much for all our friends, family and most importantly Jaelyn's peers for their emotional support. She will be back stronger than ever.
