Hi, my name is Jenny, or Jade as my family calls me, and I’m fundraising for my dad, Ildefonso, who is currently battling hepatocellular carcinoma, a form of liver cancer.
My dad has always been a quiet, kind presence in our lives. He expresses his love through simple, meaningful acts, like preparing home-cooked meals, driving us around, crafting furniture with his own hands, and bringing a tree house to life. It’s the same tree house where he now spends his afternoons resting in a hammock, listening to the radio. Even now, he finds joy in the simple things and proudly shares stories about his children with friends. This is a testament to the deep pride and affection he carries for us every day.
Since his diagnosis, my mom has taken on the overwhelming responsibility of being his full-time caregiver. Meanwhile, my siblings and I are all living and working abroad, doing our best to support them from afar. Being away during such a difficult time is incredibly hard, but we are doing everything we can to be present in the ways that matter.
Because surgery isn’t an option at this stage, our doctor recommended starting with immunotherapy. My dad has begun treatment, and we’re waiting on follow-up scans to see how his body responds. Depending on the results, other options might be explored down the line, but for now, we’re placing our hope in immunotherapy. It’s a difficult and costly path, but we’re doing everything we can to give him the best chance.
I’ve set up this GoFundMe to help cover the growing medical expenses for his treatments, medications, and care in the Philippines. Every contribution will go directly toward easing this financial burden and making sure our dad gets the care he needs.
If you’re not in a position to give, please consider sharing this campaign or keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness and support mean the world to us.
