Support Jade-Ben's Gender Affirmation Surgery

Hi everybody :) You may know me from work or from school or from anything in between. Across all these spaces I have been open about my identity as transgender. What exactly that means to me has changed over time, but I have identified as trans for going on 10 years now. Some of you may remember when I began to question my gender identity in 2015! It's been a long ride.

On May 15th, 2025, I am going to have a double mastectomy as part of my gender transition. I have wanted this surgery for a very long time, and I am fortunate enough to have the support and health insurance to have it.

Unfortunately, although this surgery is in-part covered by my insurance, it will still cost $2000 out of pocket, not including the cost of pre and post-op appointments and post-op care. I also have to take at least 2 weeks off work to recover.

All that being said, it is important to me to have this surgery here and now. The social and political climate surrounding this procedure and towards transgender people in general has grown incredibly hostile, and I would like to get this surgery while I still can.
