My name is Jada Owens. I am a sophomore at Penn State University. I love Penn State. PSU was the only university I wanted to apply to. I knew Penn was for me. It was indeed a blessing to become a Nittany Lion. We Are Penn State!
Freshman year was a challenge; albeit not so much academically, but socially. I learned a great deal about bullying and harassment. I learned that abuse is more than physical. It is verbal, mental, and emotional. Nevertheless, I persevered and did what I had to do in maintaining my GPA. I currently have an A average in my major.
Even more, my dad received a devastating diagnosis during my freshman year. Yet, I stayed the course; committed to never giving in, never giving up.
Today, to God be the glory, he is doing well.
I am in the School of Engineering. Often, I am the only female in many of my classes. I desire to see this change. I desire to be an inspiration to other young girls, encouraging them to embark upon careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
My parents have exhausted their savings and resources. I can't get a loan. Three of my eight siblings are presently enrolled, pursuing, or entering college. Thus, funds are few. My financial aid is being held up, and I am not able to register for my classes.
Please help me to continue my education without interruption nor delay; to pursue my dreams and aspirations. I don't know where else to turn. I desperately need $15,000.
Any amount is deeply and sincerely appreciated.
