If you’re reading this, you probably know by now the dire condition my baby sister is in. Jacquelynn has been fighting for her life in the ICU for four days at this point, due to an unknown condition that has doctors scratching their heads.
She had to be transported by ambulance to the ICU in Salem early last Saturday morning. It was there, that she experience congestive heart failure and coded. Thanks to the doctors and God guiding their hands, they were able to bring her back. She spent that whole day in the ICU before a special team was able to come down and hook her up to a life saving device called echmo. After successfully placing the device, hours later, she was transferred yet again by ambulance to the neuro trauma intensive care unit in Portland. All the while, unconscious, sedated, and medically paralyzed. The transportation was risky, but needed to be done.
Over the past few days she has had 3 different surgery’s on her leg to prevent them from having to amputate it due to the poor circulation and lack of blood flow. She has an intense ventilator, doing all the work for her lungs, an impela pump going through her leg up to her heart to keep it pumping, as well as the echmo for her lungs, and dialysis for her kidneys. The trauma she has experienced to her brain during the heart attack is unknown at this point. We are praying that she will make a full recovery, but don’t know for certain what this will look like. Jacquelynn is still sedated, but no longer needing the impela, or such a severe ventilator. She has made such amazing progress that can only be attributed to God, the doctors, and her own amazing strength, resilience, and support from family and friends.
There is still a long way to go, and she isn’t out of the woods yet, but we are getting there. Please support Jacquelynn and her parents’ medical bills by donating what you can. I know she would do the same for you.
