Support Jacqueline's Recovery from Farm Accident

Hello, I’m Whitley Gibson and I wanted to start this fundraiser for my older sister, Jacqueline Rather (Jackie Dugger), who was involved in a freak farm accident on 3/30/2024. She is unable to return back to work on her mail route for USPS for an unknown amount of time.

She was working on her & her husband’s farm pulling old fencing with her son Luke when suddenly things took a turn and she had to be airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in hopes to save her left arm. A piece of fence wire severed her brachial artery and bicep. Luke acted quick as they got 911 on the phone and took his belt off to put around his mom’s arm as a tourniquet which successfully got the bleeding stopped before paramedics arrived. When she arrived at BJC she immediately underwent a couple surgeries all night into the early morning hours. After 8 days, she finally came home on April 7th. She’s had multiple follow up appointments as well as attending physical therapy multiple days per week. Her skin graft has healed up greatly!

As of now, returning to work is not in the foreseeable future. Any donations will be used towards medical bills and living expenses to support her family and children. Please simply share this on your Facebook page to help raise money so my sister can try to make ends meet for her family.

5/30/2024 UPDATE: She is scheduled for surgery on 7/25/2024

5/29/2024 UPDATE: “Well I didn't get the good news from the doctor today that I wanted. Unfortunately my two nerves are basically destroyed they think but how badly there's no way to fully know. The one nerve that is working that we thought was really good and could be used to "Hotwire " me really isn't that great either. So now I have to wait til I'm 3 months post op to continue to see if nerves are going change for better and swelling in them go down or if not then they'll know by 3 month nerve check I'll do again that they are shit basically. Then comes the fun part . If nerves don't get better in the way they need them to, then there's no hot wiring nor splicing instead it will be 1-2 years of surgeries "fine tuning"for nerve transfers from my legs and if that doesn't work then they will take muscles/tendons from my legs and attach up high in my shoulder and run them down to try get hand function back. Now only trick is I have to be sure my hand stays supple and moving and my fingers don't get stiff over next 4-6 weeks or if they do then there's nothing else they can do for me.”
