As some of you know Jacob had emergency surgery this week and well we have no idea the cost yet, he is home and resting, but I am going to need a little help in paying the medical bills off. What we thought was appendicitis turns out it was not but they found a mass on his small and large intestine that they had to remove and in order to do that they had to remove a small part of his small and large intestine. As of 03/17/25 from follow up did find out that the appendix was removed as well because of the part of the large intestine that had to go, so we won't have to worry about appendicitis ever. The name of the surgery performed was called a Ileocecectomy, also known as ileo-caecal resection, is a surgical procedure that removes the terminal ileum (the end of the small intestine) and the cecum (the beginning of the large intestine). Whatever this mass is they got it all and hes going to make a full recovery. We have no idea what this mass is yet. We are awaiting pathology results . Anything is appreciated. Just got pathology results back and it was really good news. He had what they called diverticulum of the cecum. (very rare and unique in teenagers) and the surgeon has never seen this in a teenager. Anyway that diverticulum of the cecum became abscessed(infected) and that is what caused all the issues. He was possibly born with it and was asymptomatic until it flared up. Everything was removed and he is all cured.

Update 2 we had the follow up visit today with the surgeon and he has healed well. He can resume all physical activity as normal and has no food restrictions. Surgeon is very pleased with his progress. (see updated procedure name above in Paragraph 1)

Update 3 the first of 2 hospital bills arrived. The pic attached to that is the total before the discount. (it wont let me post the second picture), but after the discount we owe for this bill 12,298.18. Ambulance bill which should not have been a separate bill is 2635.76.
