My name is Linda, and I’m raising funds for my son, Jacob Roll, to help us travel to Asunción, Paraguay, so he can compete in the junior street scooter competition at the World Skate Games in October. Jacob has been scootering for fun for years, but over the last two years he has become deeply committed to the sport. He won the Arizona qualifying event, competed at the recent USA Roller Sports national competition in San Diego, and qualified for a spot at World Skate. I am so proud of the dedication he has shown as he trains, travels to skate parks and competitions, and continues building friendships and community in the scooter world. He is kind, humble, and hardworking, and younger kids at the skate park truly look up to him. Supporters can also follow his journey and connect with him on Instagram at @jake.roll32.
The challenge for our family is that scooter sports are still growing in the United States, so there is very little financial support available for riders. While USA Roller Sports covers Jacob’s registration fees, families are responsible for nearly everything else. Because Jacob is a minor, I need to travel with him, and these funds will help cover two round-trip plane tickets to Paraguay, hotel accommodations, transportation to and from the venue, and meals while we are there. This is the kind of opportunity any parent would want for their child: the chance to represent their sport, experience another culture, and grow through competition on an international stage.
We learned he qualified just last week, and World Skate begins October 2nd which means we only have a couple of weeks to raise the funds to make this happen for Jacob!
We are so grateful to be part of the great community of Southeast Idaho. It is not very often that one of our own gets the chance to compete on an international stage, and I know Jacob will represent Idaho well with humility, dedication, and heart. We would truly love the support of our community as he takes this big step. If you are able to help, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps bring Jacob one step closer to this incredible experience. I also hope Jacob’s journey encourages other families to support kids in spending time outside, staying active, and building confidence and character away from screens.
