Support Jacob's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Athena and I’m an old friend of Jennifer’s and Jason’s. I’ve put the Go Fund Me together to help raise financial support during a truly difficult and painful time for the Stanley family. There will be more surgeries and therapies for Jacob’s recovery and we all know how outrageous medical bills are. If you are able to contribute, it would be a wonderful way to show your love and support for Jacob. Anyone who knows them, knows they are an incredibly close family, loved by many and I know they are grateful for the support. All funds go directly to the Stanleys. If you’d like to send a donation through Venmo, you can find Jason at Jason-Stanley-51. The following was written by Jason.
While we would typically keep our family tribulations in house, the outpouring of support for our son, Jacob, and of course the many questions, deserve to be recognized. So here goes…
On Wednesday evening, around 7pm, Jacob was riding his dirt bike with friends. Unfortunately he was on asphalt and caught a patch of sand and gravel that caused him to lose control of his bike. He ended up careening straight into the rear end of his friends car, which was parked on the side of the road. He was wearing a helmet, however his chinstrap was not buckled, and upon impact, came flying off. This left his face exposed, which took the brunt of the impact. As soon as his friends realized the obvious trauma he had sustained, they sought assistance from parents and 911 was immediately called. He was transported by ambulance to Elliot Hospital in Manchester. He was immediately placed in a medically induced coma upon arrival so the doctors, nurses, and surgical team could get to work.
So here’s where we’re at - Jacob sustained extreme facial trauma and an exposed fracture to his left leg. I’ll leave out the details, as they’re horrific. His leg has been repaired with a rod and screws from his knee to his ankle, and his face has been “reconstructed”, for lack of a better term. The good news is that his leg will heal fine and the plastic surgeon feels very optimistic about Jacob’s face. Yesterday afternoon they woke him up, removed the respirator, he is being moved from the ICU to a medical rehab floor. He was so incredibly lucky to not have sustained a permanent brain injury or worse. He is alive! He is stable! And he will heal!
Jen and I simply cannot thank everyone enough for the support and generosity you’ve shown us. The well wishes for Jacob have been numerous and constant. He knows he is loved. Our thanks to you all.
