Help Jacob Get the Care & Transportation He Deserves

Hello, my name is Kimberly Granados , and I’m raising funds to help my 8-year-old son, Jacob, get the medical care he desperately needs. Jacob has been battling epilepsy since he was two years old. At five, doctors told me his seizures would stop, but instead, they have become more frequent and aggressive. He now has chronic epilepsy, and his condition is only worsening.

Jacob’s seizures have taken over his life. He cannot participate in sports because any rise in body temperature triggers a seizure. He’s been placed on seven different medications, each causing terrible side effects—vomiting, loss of appetite, extreme fatigue and even urinating blood. One medication, which he was on for a year, was actually making his seizures worse. Despite all of this, his doctors continue to dismiss my concerns and push new medications that leave him drugged up and in pain.

Recently, we learned that his seizures have progressed from focal seizures (affecting one part of the brain) to generalized seizures (affecting his entire brain). Because of this, the doctors said surgery may no longer be an option for him. They also tell me we’re running out of treatment options. But I refuse to accept that. My son deserves better.

Why I’m Asking for Help ?

Jacob now has seizures almost every single day—sometimes multiple times a day—and we are in and out of the hospital constantly. He has trouble walking, his legs give out on him, and he can’t even walk two blocks without having a seizure. Because of his condition and the constant hospital visits, I can no longer work a full-time job, making it even harder to afford the transportation and medical care he needs. I desperately need a reliable vehicle to get him to his appointments safely. We live in a city where everything is within walking distance, but walking is no longer an option for him.

On top of Jacob’s struggles, my other son, Jayson, who has autism, is now starting to have seizures, and my youngest, Rarri, is showing early signs of tics. As a single mother of five, I am doing everything I can, but I need help. I want to get Jacob the best care possible, even if it means traveling to see new specialists. Our goal is to raise these funds by May 1st, 2025, so we can secure a reliable vehicle and begin seeking better medical care for Jacob as soon as possible.
