Our family is asking for help for someone who means the world to us: my older brother, Jacobey. At just 27 years old, Jacobey is fighting a rare and aggressive cancer that has turned his life and our family’s world upside down. He is a husband, father, son, and brother. He is deeply loved, and we are doing everything we can to give him the chance to keep fighting. Jacobey was originally diagnosed with melanoma in Oklahoma, where he underwent months of immunotherapy and major procedures to stabilize his spine and femur. However, the cancer continued to spread, so we sought another expert opinion. After coming to California for further care, doctors at Stanford discovered that Jacobey had been misdiagnosed. His cancer is actually a rare tumor called malignant melanotic nerve sheath tumor. He is currently receiving chemotherapy and is supposed to continue immunotherapy, but those treatments have been put on hold because of insurance issues. We have found another reason to hope; After searching for additional options, our family consulted with Envita Medical Center in Arizona. They expressed confidence that Envita is where Jacobey needs to be, giving us hope during a time when we desperately need it. The estimated cost of treatment at Envita is $140,000 for treatment alone. This does not include travel, lodging, or other related expenses. It is more than our family can afford on our own, but we want to do everything possible to pursue this opportunity for Jacobey. We know there are no guarantees in a fight like this. We are simply trying to give him the opportunity to receive care that may help him. While we raise money for Envita, Jacobey is also facing an urgent situation with his current treatment at Stanford. His emergency insurance coverage has ended. His last immunotherapy treatment was on September 3, and his next treatment is scheduled for November 11. Our only current hope of having that treatment covered is to reapply for emergency Medi-Cal, but we do not know whether he will be approved or whether everything can be resolved in time. We are trying to manage the cost of pursuing treatment at Envita while working to prevent further delays in Jacobey’s current care. The uncertainty is terrifying, and every day feels more precious than the last. Please help us fight for Jacobey We are raising funds to help cover the estimated $140,000 cost of treatment at Envita, along with the travel, lodging, and other expenses involved in getting him there and pursuing care. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser could help us reach someone who can. We want Jacobey to have more time with his children, his wife, and his family. We want him to have more opportunities to make the memories that cancer is threatening to take away. We know we cannot do this alone. We are asking our friends, family, community, and even strangers who have never met Jacobey to please help us share his story. Please consider donating, sharing this fundraiser, and helping us reach as many people as possible. Your kindness could help our family pursue an opportunity that would otherwise be financially out of reach. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for giving Jacobey’s story a chance to be heard and for standing beside our family during the hardest time of our lives. With love, hope, and gratitude, Jacobey’s Family ❤️
