Hello family, friends, and loved ones,
We’re reaching out to share the story of, Jacob Walker, a 15-year-old high school sophomore with a heart full of kindness, humor, and strength. Before his diagnosis, Jacob loved playing football, gaming, and spending time watching movies and laughing with his family and friends.
In October 2024, Jacob’s life changed unexpectedly. While on a flight, a blood vessel in his sinus cavity ruptured, leading to an emergency hospital visit. Doctors discovered that his platelet and hemoglobin levels were critically low, and after further testing, he was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia — a rare and serious condition where the bone marrow stops producing enough blood cells.
Since his diagnosis, Jacob has undergone numerous blood and platelet transfusions to help maintain his levels while doctors worked toward a long-term solution. After months of waiting and praying, we were blessed to learn that two of Jacob’s siblings were full matches for a bone marrow transplant, and his twin sister Lillian will be his donor.
Jacob began chemotherapy on November 12th at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Washington Heights, NY, as he prepares for his bone marrow transplant. Following chemotherapy, Lillian will undergo her procedure to donate her bone marrow, giving her brother the chance at recovery and renewed life. Jacob will remain hospitalized for six to eight weeks, followed by six months to a year of isolation as his immune system rebuilds.
Throughout this time, our family will be traveling frequently, taking time off work, and covering medical and post-transplant care costs. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will help us manage medical bills not covered by insurance, travel and lodging expenses, time away from work, and the ongoing costs of Jacob’s recovery.
Jacob’s resilience and optimism continue to inspire everyone around him. Even through the toughest days, his sense of humor and gentle spirit shine through. We are deeply grateful for any support — whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping Jacob in your thoughts and prayers. Updates on his progress will be shared on our Facebook and Instagram pages so loved ones can stay connected and uplift him throughout this journey.
Thank you for standing with Jacob as he fights his way toward healing.
With love and gratitude,
