I want to thank everyone for reaching out and continuing to send prayers, well wishes and positive energy Jacob’s way. Here is a summary of what happened: Tuesday evening, November 24th, Jacob and his roommate, Cam, were riding their motorcycles back to Phoenix after a day at the Grand Canyon. Close to Flagstaff, a man who was walking down the median of the interstate shot Jacob in the leg with a 9MM handgun and shattered his femur as they were riding past. Not much traffic or other people around. Jacob immediately knew something hit him and his leg was broken. He was able to keep his motorcycle upright and pull to the side of the road where Cam helped him to the ground. If he would have dropped that bike at highway speed with that injury he most likely would not have survived. He had emergency surgery and now has a rod and screws to hold the pieces together. The bullet was a hollow point, so it disintegrated when it hit the bone. The police found the gun. Later they found the man. Jacob is home in Phoenix, and I’m here with him, and we will be coming home to Omaha soon. He has a long road of healing, but this young man is so strong. Even the doctors were amazed with him.
We have set up this GoFundMe page to help support Jacob with the expenses he will have throughout his recovery. As of now Jacob cannot work. This means that he will have no income to pay for not only the medical expenses but also his rent, utilities, car payment, and other living expenses during his healing process. Your donations will go directly to help Jacob during his recovery. Every amount helps. Thank you for the support!
