Help Support Jacob McCall’s Recovery

Last weekend at Road Atlanta, fellow racer Jacob McCall was involved in a freak accident during his WERA race. As he approached Turn 10a, another rider and bike slid in at the last second and collided directly into Jacob. It was the kind of unpredictable, split-second incident that no racer could anticipate—one of those rare accidents you wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Jacob is a brand-new road racer this year, but he’s already shown himself to be one of those naturally gifted riders with tremendous potential. In fact, despite being a novice, he’s won the majority of the races he’s entered this season—often beating out seasoned experts on the grid. His bright future in the sport was already undeniable before this setback.

While his bike came out with only minor damage, Jacob wasn’t as fortunate: his tibia and fibula were both severely fractured. He now faces major surgery requiring hardware, followed by months of rehabilitation. At minimum, his racing season is over—and the medical expenses he is facing will easily reach into six figures.

We know that some people may look at situations like this and think, “Well, racing is a choice, and injuries are part of the sport.” And while that’s true to an extent, this accident was not the result of reckless riding or Jacob taking unnecessary risks. It was a rare, freak incident that blindsided him completely. Racing is his passion, and like any athlete chasing their dream, he knew the risks—but nobody is ever truly prepared for something like this.

For fellow racers reading this: you know how quickly things can change out there. One moment you’re setting up for a corner, the next your whole season—and sometimes your life—looks completely different. We’ve all had close calls that could have gone the other way. This time, it was Jacob. Next time, it could be any of us.

Jacob has already listed some of his personal bikes for sale to try to cover the mounting medical costs. This fundraiser is meant to help ease that burden and ensure that he can focus on what matters most right now: healing and rebuilding.
