Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Celeste, and I’m reaching out on behalf of myself, my partner Jacob, and our two beloved bald kitties, Beetlejuice and Ozzy. Our lives were turned upside down when the recent fires in Altadena, California, devastated our home and our community.
We moved to Altadena in May 2024, drawn by its beautiful nature, rich history, and the warmth of its community. We quickly fell in love with the area—its coffee shops, local bakeries, and all the little things that made it feel like home. Together, we poured everything we had into building a life here, but in an instant, it was all taken away.
The fire swept through so quickly that there was no time to gather our belongings. Jacob lost his cherished vinyl collection, band tees, and personal mementos he had spent years collecting. Jacob lost everything from the past 30 years that could never be replaced. All our furniture, appliances, and the little comforts that made our apartment a home are gone. Even our cats, Beetlejuice and Ozzy, lost their toys, bedding, and supplies.
We are heartbroken but determined to rebuild—not just for ourselves but for the community that welcomed us. While we’ve lost so much, we are grateful to still have each other and our kitties safe. With your support, we can begin to restore what was lost and work toward creating a new foundation we can call home.
These funds will assist with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid. We also hope to give back to our Altadena community through volunteering and donations as we begin to recover.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference, and even sharing our story means the world to us. Thank you for helping us rebuild our lives and keep the spirit of Altadena alive in our hearts.
With gratitude,
Celeste, Jacob, Beetlejuice & Ozzy
