- Hi! My name is Jaclyn and I'm an RN on strike at Providence St. Vincents. Since 1/10/25, the RN's and Hospitalists have been picketing for better working conditions, scheduling, increased pay, retro pay, safe staffing ratios, for patient safety, and improved health benefits for staff.
- Providence came back with a Tentative Agreement, but the nurses decided NOT to accept this offer. Therefore, we will continue to be on strike for who knows how long. We are currently on day 30 without work.
- I didn't think I needed assistance but this strike has gone longer than I anticipated and I'm starting to stress. There are a lot more people and causes that deserve donations more than I do, but I am running out of options.
- I'm trying to hold the line, but I have rent, car payments, school loan payments, and one of my medications is over $300 (until I reach my deductible of $1650, thanks Providence!)
- I can't apply for the Hardship funds provided through Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) because they require you pick up a certain amount of picket shifts to qualify. I've been unable to go picket once due to being extremely sick the entire month of January. I got Influenza A, tonsillitis, salivary stones, and I just recovered from Noro-Virus. To protect my health, I will have to continue supporting from home.
- I applied for the interest-free loans for strike nurses, but no response in over a week :( I also tried to apply for SNAP but the website kept shutting down during my application.
- I tried driving for Uber eats for extra money but it's not much. I'm going to start donating my plasma x2/week for money too since some other RN's have been doing that. But if you need babysitting, pet sitting, dog walking, or help with anything else and can provide a reasonable compensation, PLEASE contact me! I also have items for sell on my facebook marketplace, so check it out!
- Thank you for anyone still reading this far. I would be so grateful for ANY donation or opportunity to make money during this stressful time. I hate asking for help, especially for donations, but I really need it. :(
- Photo includes myself and some of the other RN's on the IMCU team :)
Thank you kindly,
Jaclyn Deeb
