Last week, I got a horrible phone call. My youngest son, Jackson Kael Redd, who is living in California, was admitted last Sunday night with respiratory failure. He was sedated and put on a vent. The next day, a doctor from San Diego came in to see him and immediately put him on an ECMO (basically a machine that cycles the blood out of the body, oxygenates it, and then sends it back into the body via the jugular). He then had him transferred to a hospital in San Diego that specializes in patients that need to be on ECMO. His diagnosis is respiratory failure due to pneumonia.
There have been several attempts to wake him in order to try to see if he can come off the ventilator, but each time he wakes up struggling against everything. It's a high risk because if he pulled one of the ports out for the ECMO, he could bleed out. Doctors revised their plan, and now they are currently weaning him off the ECMO so that they can re-attempt to get him off the vent.
His medical expenses are gonna be very high, even with his insurance. I'm not expecting any miracles, but any donations would be very much appreciated. Thanks to our family's support, I will be headed to San Diego to be with him tomorrow (Tuesday, March 24). It will be a 2-day trip there and back.
Donations can also be sent to my Venmo acct.. @DRedd-2 , last 4 of my phone number are 9665
Please send your thoughts and prayers his way! And thank you from both of us for everything.
