Early in the morning of March 21, a small fire broke out at the Trade Mart Building in Jackson, MS, where the annual Spring Market was being held. The building had more than 100 merchants' inventory, displays, and various other belongings. Every merchant's items and displays were severely damaged, and the show was canceled. Many merchants were depending on this show for various income reasons. Replacing the damaged items and displays, along with loss of expected funds, is the new priority.
I was one of the merchants at this show and have decided to take up the task of starting a GoFundMe for every single merchant participating in the show. The Lord has laid it on my heart to take up this large task, ensuring the funds raised reach every merchant. Yes, this is a huge task to take on, but I feel like this is something I need to do. Everyone is asking how they can help, and because some are awaiting insurance responses, while others had no insurance, I feel like this is the best place to start! No amount given is too small, but if you feel led to give to these merchants, please do!
We have over 20 years in this industry and understand fully how difficult retail can be, so if this is the good that comes out of yesterday's catastrophic loss, then so be it. We trust God's timing and are so thankful the building was empty when the fire started. Please pray for every merchant in the coming months and remember to shop small!
