Support Jackson (Jax)'s Recovery & Journey

On June 1st, Jackson suffered a life-threatening medical emergency caused by a severe infection that nearly took his life. At one point, his heart stopped, and it took approximately 12 minutes of lifesaving efforts to bring him back. The days that followed were filled with uncertainty as he remained in critical condition at Albany Medical Center in New York, under intensive medical care. Today, Jackson is awake and continuing his recovery, but the road ahead remains long and challenging.

While we are incredibly grateful that Jackson survived, his journey is far from over. As he continues healing, he will need support while working to regain his independence and navigate the challenges that come with a long recovery.

Beyond the medical updates and the challenges that lie ahead, there is a person at the heart of all of this.

Jackson has spent years crossing paths with people from all walks of life, making friends wherever he went and leaving stories behind wherever he landed. He has always been drawn toward people, music, and connection. To Jackson, music is alchemy. Anyone who has watched him play guitar or ukulele, share a song, or connect with someone through music understands exactly what he means. Whether your paths crossed once or a hundred times, he had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and connected.

Like many of us, Jackson's life has not been without struggles. But he has never been defined by the hardest chapters of his story. Those who know him know his generous heart, his sense of humor, his resilience, and his willingness to help others even when he had very little himself.

The road ahead is complex, but one thing is certain: recovery will require far more than simply leaving the hospital. In the months ahead, Jackson will need ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and cognitive therapy, transportation to appointments, assistance navigating insurance and benefits, housing, and support with everyday living expenses. He will also need help relocating from New York back to Texas so he can be closer to family and support.

While Jackson has already made progress faster than many expected, his medical team has made it clear that recovery will take time. He is expected to need significant supervision and assistance throughout the process, and recovery may take months or even years.

This fundraiser has been created to help ease some of the financial burdens ahead, including ongoing medical expenses, rehabilitation, housing, and the many costs that come with a lengthy recovery. Most importantly, it will help give Jackson the time, support, and resources he needs to focus on healing and continuing the remarkable progress he has already made.
