I'm Jack, 81 years young I have always been very active and strong. I went into the hospital on Thanksgiving Day of 2024 Spent Thanksgiving Christmas & New Years in the hospital. They ran all kinds of tests on me: MRI, CT scans, X-rays. They thought I had a stroke but found out I had a very bad lower spine infection.

They placed a PICC line in me and for three months gave me a strong antibiotic through my PICC line straight into my bloodstream twice a day. During that time, I couldn't get out of bed and was in a lot of pain, so they kept me on morphine and oxycodone. I didn't know much about these drugs and was afraid of getting hooked, so I started weaning myself off them. Finally, I got to where I could eat, and they moved me to a rehab center where I stayed for a month. I had to learn how to walk again because the atrophy had set in. I got to where I could walk with a walker, and so they discharged me.

I came home and started physical therapy and occupational therapy to get my strength and balance back. I've gone through therapy now for almost 3 months. I'm still not 100% as I was before I went into the hospital. I've always been real active. I've been on short-term disability. The only income I have is Social Security. And I'm faced now with a $400,000 hospital bill plus my everyday living bills . I'm trying to get to where I can do some part-time work, but I need your help. My Social Security doesn't go very far.
