Support JJ's Journey to Gender Affirmation

Hi, my name is JJ and I'm raising money to help pay for my top surgery costs. I grew up in South Carolina, and from a young age I always knew that something about me was different. I would frequently dress up and pretend to be a boy to feel more comfortable in my body, but because I grew up in a conservative household, this was always dismissed. It wasn't until two years ago, after moving to New York, that I was able to begin the process of social transition. Thankfully, I had access to doctors who were able to provide gender-affirming care, and I began taking HRT as a first step toward medical transition last year, which has helped both my mental and physical health. Top surgery (sometimes known as chest masculinization) is an important part of gender-affirming care for many trans men and nonbinary people, and I'm excited to take this next step on my transition journey!

Although my insurance is able to cover much of the cost of the surgery itself, it won't cover the entire cost, and I will still need to be out of work for two weeks in order to recover. I will be spending any collected funds on covering these costs, as well as supplies related to the surgery. Any extra money I make, above what I use, will be given back to my community and donated to another top surgery GoFundMe.
