JACK IS FINALLY COMING HOME!!!

After two physical rehabilitation facilities and months in multiple intensive care units, Jack is finally coming home!!! We are so excited for him to return to his home in Kansas City, MO with his mom Lisa Wishkeno-Rheuark, father David Rheuark, sister Erin Rheuark, and his beloved pets! As of now, Jack will be home shortly before Thanksgiving, 653 days after suffering a traumatic brain injury, giving us so many reasons to be thankful!! The family wants to thank everyone who has visited, donated time or money to help, and for all of the prayers and support in so many different ways! They appreciate everyone so much and the money from the first GoFundMe has already been used to allow David, Lisa, and Erin to remain at Jack’s bedside during his most critical times of his illness and recovery.

Thanks to our loving God and your help, Jack has been able to work hard at his recovery at Shirley Ryan in Chicago, IL and Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital in St. Louis, MO. However, his journey towards healing isn’t over. Although, Jack gained much progress while at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, following his discharge, Jack relapsed with auto immune hemolytic anemia causing another 4 month stay in the ICU at Ann & Robert Laurie Children’s hospital in Chicago, IL. That setback left Jack unable to speak, walk, or eat on his own requiring 24 hour enteral feeding through a J-tube and ventilator support. Jack remains on a ventilator, which requires 24 hour nursing care.

When he returns home, there will be a few things he will absolutely need in order to continue his rehabilitation in Kansas City, MO to become more independent and for his family to care for him. These items are not covered by insurance and are very costly which is why we need your help!

Jack will need an electronic bed that will provide more comfort and decrease back strain on his caregivers. The HILL-ROM TOTAL CARE Sport 2 HOSPITAL BED WITH ROTATION, VIBRATION AND LOW AIR LOSS (Used and reconditioned) will cost $5,890.

Jack will also need a movable electric lift to help him in and out of bed, help transfer him into his wheelchair and move him to other parts in the home. The lift, Maxi Move Powered DPS Patient Lift, will cost approximately $9,900.

Two doorways in the house need to be widened to allow the powered wheelchair to fit through the doors. A home remodel for a downstairs wheelchair accessible bathroom is also a great need since Jack’s room will now be downstairs.

In order to transport Jack to his rehabilitation therapy sessions 3-4 days a week and multiple medical appointments, the family's van needs to be converted to be wheelchair accessible, which will cost $22,000.

For home safety, Jack will need 2 exits out of the house in case of a fire. The garage exit will provide a front exit, but a second exit is needed. The Highlander II VPL-Vertical Platform Lift will allow Jack to exit off the deck in his wheelchair safely. The cost for the lift is $17,920.

David and Lisa are overwhelmed with the cost of these items Jack desperately needs. All donations are appreciated more than they can express. Every cent will go towards the items listed above to help Jack settle back into his home with his family and to help his family take better care of him and to help him regain his independence. Thank you in advance for your generosity, prayers and support in so many ways! ❤️
