Support Jack's Fight with Pneumonia

Jack is an a amazing boy. He puts smiles on everyone's faces. He waves to everyone he sees, gives high fives to strangers at the grocery store, and is the sunshine in his Moms' lives. He has a small chicken farm where he really enjoys collecting eggs and watching the hens peck away for snacks.

He's a generally healthy child, with no major medical issues. But one day he woke up with a very minor cough. We didn't think anything apart from a cold. But he started breathing heavier and was expecting himself more. We took him to an Urgent Care in the large city near our small rural town. The doctor watches him for a few minutes and decided his breathing wasn't that bad and sent us on our way with a prescription for steroids, and warned if he got worse, to go to the ER. We got the script and drove the hour home. The meds say to give him food with it. So Jack was eating some diced peaches and then I gave him the liquid medicine. He immediately threw it up. He didn't want to eat or drink anything the rest of the night. By bed time, a few hours later, he was running a fever and deep belly breathing. He seemed to act normal otherwise. So we thought wed let him go to sleep, and see how he was in the morning. Just a short few hours later, Jack woke up throwing up all over and he was belly breathing so violently that it looked like his belly may just burst out of his body. Every breath shook his entire body. We immediately drove back to the city and went to the children's emergency department. He had several breathing treatments, meds for fever, nose swabs, the works. Then was admitted to the Pediatric ICU. He was immediately put on 50% high flow oxygen. Round the clock steroids, breathing treatment, IV antibiotics. He couldn't breathe normally on his own. After hours of tests, it was discovered he has Pneumonia on top of Parainfluenza 1 PCR and his little lungs just couldn't take it. The Respiratory doctor wants to get him stable and then try to wean him off the oxygen little at a time as his body will accept it, but he will remain in PICU until he can breathe completely on his own again, and as long as nothing worse happens.

We are asking for any donations to help with the cost of this. Both Jack's parents work full time jobs to support him, and the loss we will have from this is extreme. Insurance premiums have been raised, copays have gone up, and we will have a very large medical bill as a result. I know times are tough for everyone, but even $1 can help make a difference for us and Jack.
