Support Jack's Fight Against Wiscott-Aldrich Syndrome
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Shawni, and I am setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my lifelong friend, Julie Tukuafu, and her incredible son, Jack.
Julie has been a pillar of strength and compassion in my life. We've shared countless tennis matches as players and now as coaches, and through it all, her caring and selfless nature has always stood out. As a single mother of two, she juggles life's challenges with grace and determination. Now, her youngest, Jack, needs our help.
At just five years old, Jack is fighting a rare and life-threatening genetic disorder called Wiscott-Aldrich Syndrome (WAS), which affects only 1 in 1,000,000 male infants. This disorder prevents Jack's body from producing the platelets necessary for blood clotting and severely compromises his immune system. Despite his young age, Jack has faced numerous health scares and frequent trips to the emergency room due to spontaneous bleeding.
After consulting with numerous specialists since his diagnosis in 2019, the consensus is clear: a bone marrow transplant is Jack's best shot at a normal life. This May, Jack will begin a challenging journey at Phoenix Children's Hospital, starting with chemotherapy followed by the transplant itself. He's expected to spend a minimum of 8-10 weeks this summer in the hospital, with a long recovery period to follow.
We are forever grateful for the medical team and the brave soul who is Jack's donor. This transplant offers hope that Jack can live a life full of possibilities, free from the constraints of WAS. But the road ahead is long, and the costs are overwhelming.
That's where you come in. We're reaching out to ask for your support to cover the medical expenses, travel for treatments, and the long stay at the hospital. Any amount you can donate will go directly to supporting Jack's fight for a healthier future.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can provide. It means the world to Julie, Jack, and all of us who love them.
With deepest gratitude,
Team Jack
