Tax deductible
As the sun set over the small town of Oakdale, 12-year-old Jack lay in his hospital bed, his bright blue eyes gazing wistfully out the window. He longed to be outside, to feel the warmth of the sun on his face and the thrill of competition in his heart. For Jack loved wrestling, and his dream was to take to the mat and grapple with his friends and foes. But fate had other plans.
Just a few months ago, Jack had been diagnosed with leukemia, a cruel and relentless foe that had stolen his childhood and left him weak and frail. The treatments had taken their toll, leaving him bald and gaunt, his body wracked by pain and fatigue. But despite it all, Jack's spirit remained unbroken, and he clung to his dream of wrestling with every fiber of his being.
As the days turned into weeks, Jack's condition continued to deteriorate, and his doctors told him that he would never be strong enough to wrestle again. The news crushed Jack, and he felt like a part of him had died. He lay in bed, feeling hopeless and helpless, as the tears streamed down his face. Why had this happened to him? Why had he been robbed of his childhood and his dreams?
As the darkness closed in around him, Jack's thoughts turned to his wrestling teammates, who were no doubt competing and laughing together without him. He wondered if they ever thought of him, if they ever missed their friend and teammate who had been torn from their midst. And as he drifted off to sleep, Jack's heart was filled with a deep and abiding sorrow, for he knew that he would never again experience the joy and thrill of wrestling, and that his dreams had been forever lost to the cruel hand of fate.
