Hello, my name is Valerie. In January 2023, our dad, Jack, was diagnosed with TERMINAL Stage 4 Prostate Cancer.
The cancer has spread to his bones, lymph nodes, lower spine, and he now has less than half of one kidney. He receives hormone shots at Johns Hopkins Hospital, which are currently the only treatment keeping the cancer at bay — but these only work for about 2 to 2.5 years. Doctors have given him 2 1/2 to 5 years to live.
Despite the pain, Jack continues to smile. He finds humor in the darkness and tries to lift our spirits every day. What breaks our hearts most is that he’s more worried about our mom, his wife, and how she’ll manage everything after he’s gone than he is about himself.
We are seeking help with the costs that have become overwhelming. Between ongoing medical bills, painfully expensive prescriptions, and now the reality of funeral planning, our family and I are reaching out for help.
All donations will go directly toward our dads medical bills, treatments, prescriptions, funeral/final arrangements and most importantly the care of Jack when the hormone shots no longer help and the expected pain and his time in hospice he will battle. We want him to be as pain free as possible and give him the best care in his last days.
There is nothing more heartbreaking than knowing that there is no hope after this for my dad. There is nothing worse than grieving your father when he is still alive. We are sick to our stomachs and it’s a terrible reality. Only God can help bless us with a miracle.
Jack is a loving husband, amazing father of six, and proud grandfather to seven. He has so much to live for, and we want to make sure his time left is filled with love, dignity, and peace of mind — not financial stress, pain and worry.
If you're able, please consider donating. If not, sharing this page would mean the world to us and if you can take a moment to pray for our dad. Venmo handle is @Valerie-Lafon-2 if you rather send donations this way too.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
The Judd Family
