Support Jackie's Fight Against Cervical Cancer

Hi friends, my name is Jen! I'm setting up this fundraiser for my dear friend Jackie who was recently diagnosed with Stage 1B / Grade 2 cervical cancer. My hope is that you may be able to help support her as she undergoes surgery this month, with the added possibility of needing radiation and chemo after surgery. Jackie will be undergoing a radical hysterectomy at the end of April (this includes taking out her uterus, cervix, surrounding tissue, lymph nodes in her pelvis, fallopian tubes, as well as a suspicious lymph node that was lit up in a PT scan).

Jackie is loved by everyone she meets - her laugh is contagious and she brings positive energy wherever she goes. Jackie is one of the managers at my bakery, Jen's Pastries, and if you've ever come to see us on a weekend - chances are you've met Jackie. 

She LOVES our regular customers that come every weekend and she is the kind of person that remembers their birthday's, she takes the time to get to know them, she gets excited to hear about their personal celebrations and exciting news... she cares so much about all of the people in her orbit.

Jackie is 36 years old. She has given back to her community many times, and she has always worked to support humans with disabilities in the non-profit world, most recently she worked at the Special Olympics Oregon.  

Unfortunately both of Jackie's parents have passed away from cancer. Her mom died of pancreatic cancer when she was 20, and her dad more recently passed away from metastatic skin cancer whens he was 32. Jackie even donated one of her kidneys to her dad when she was 19!  

Since her parents have passed, Jackie has financially supported her aunt and uncle (until his death 2 years ago), with her aunt recently being diagnosed with dementia. Not only is Jackie dealing with cancer, but not having her parents for support has been extremely hard on her. 

Jackie needs our help financially to make it through this. Her PET scan alone was $4,000+ and that's not even close to being the end of it. Her insurance deductible is $10,000. 

Here is a breakdown of what your support would help fund:

- General hospital bills (she has a 5 day hospital stay coming up)

- Radical hysterectomy surgery

- PET Scan 

- Medication costs

- Lost wages (8 weeks off work to heal and recover)

- Possible radiation & chemotherapy 

- Genetic testing (Jackie is adopted)

Your support would mean everything to Jackie right now. She can't afford these medical bills, and all we want is for her to recover after her surgery and not have to worry about medical bills. Her community of friends is supporting her by organizing a meal train to make sure she's well fed while she recovers.
