On July 11th, 2023, my dear friend Jackie, at the age of 31, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer (Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) with Lymph Node Involvement. With no time to process the news, she immediately began fighting her battle and started chemotherapy with the upmost resilience and positivity that I have ever seen. She completed 5 months of chemotherapy and started off her year undergoing a double mastectomy and lymph node dissection. Through it all, not even the most aggressive form of breast cancer could get the best of her.

One can’t comprehend why these things happen to great people, but unfortunately, they do. Through the adversity, the only thing we can do is support them and help them get through it. Personally, seeing my friend become a warrior and fight this battle has had a huge impact in my life. Her family, friends and I cannot be more proud of her strength through this journey. If you are blessed to know Jackie, then you know her presence alone can light up the room, and what I admire most, is that despite everything, her presence continues to radiate warmth and light. She remains an amazing and caring wife, daughter, sister, cousin and friend. Remaining as funny, poised and elegant as always. She’s an inspiration to all who surround her.

As Jackie navigates this challenging journey, the financial toll of her medications, surgeries and continuing treatment are growing exponentially. The burden cancer brings into someone’s life is already so overwhelming, so I have created this GoFundMe to alleviate some of the financial strain. El 11 de julio de 2023, mi querida amiga Jackie, a la edad de 31 años, fue diagnosticada con cáncer de mama triple negativo en etapa 3 (carcinoma ductal invasivo triple negativo) con afectación de ganglios linfáticos. Sin tiempo para procesar la noticia, inmediatamente comenzó a pelear su batalla y comenzó la quimioterapia con la mayor resiliencia y positividad que jamás haya visto. Completó 5 meses de quimioterapia y comenzó su año sometiéndose a una doble mastectomía y disección de ganglios linfáticos. A pesar de todo, Jackie sigue luchando.

Uno no puede comprender por qué estas cosas le suceden a buenas personas, pero desafortunadamente, sucede. A través de la adversidad, lo único que podemos hacer es apoyarlos y ayudarlos a superar esta etapa. Personalmente, ver a mi amiga convertirse en una guerrera y pelear esta batalla ha tenido un gran impacto en mi vida. Su familia y amigos estamos muy orgullosos de la fuerza que mantiene. Si tiene la bendición de conocer a Jackie entonces sabe que su sola presencia puede iluminar la habitación, y lo que más admiro, es que a pesar de todo, su presencia sigue irradiando calidez y luz. Sigue siendo una gran esposa, hija, hermana, prima y amiga increíble y cariñosa. Sigue siendo tan divertida y elegante como siempre. Es una inspiración para todos los que la rodean.

Mientras recorre este camino, el costo financiero de sus medicamentos, cirugías y tratamiento está creciendo rápidamente.
