Support Jackie in Her Ongoing Fight Against Cancer

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

I am writing to you today with a heartfelt plea for support for my dear coworker, Jackie, who has been courageously battling colorectal cancer since her diagnosis in June 2023.

Jackie’s journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs. After her initial surgery, she used an ostomy bag temporarily to allow her body to heal. With unwavering strength and positivity, she returned to work at the Barrington, a seniors’ retirement home, as soon as her doctor cleared her, adjusting to what she could manage. Her dedication and love for her work and the residents have been truly inspiring. Even when on medical leave, Jackie maintained a deep bond with the residents, visiting them regularly and lifting their spirits with her kindness and warmth.

Jackie is a beloved member of her community, known for her compassion and unwavering support for others. She works as a food and beverage attendant at the retirement home, where her presence brings joy to everyone around her. She is also a devoted mother of three, a proud grandmother, and has been married to her high school sweetheart for over 30 years.

In November 2024, during a follow-up appointment with her oncologist, Jackie received devastating news. The cancer had spread to her lungs, spine, a kidney, and liver. Despite this setback, Jackie continues to fight with incredible courage and determination, starting a new round of chemotherapy and radiation.

The challenges have been overwhelming. With Jackie unable to work due to her battle with cancer, her family is facing unimaginable financial strain. They are struggling to cover basic expenses and provide stability for their family during this difficult time.
