Hello! We are the family and friends of the legendary Dr. Jack Tupper Daniels. Jack touched the lives of thousands of people in the running community across the world. Runner's World Magazine once gave him the title of the "World's Best Coach" and anyone who has had the privilege of being coached by him would definitely agree. Jack loved coaching athletes of all abilities, from Olympians to Division III college athletes. To him, watching the process was the most important part. He loved getting people to believe in their abilities and watch their talent flourish.
Jack once said his favorite part of coaching was seeing people smile after a performance. To him, it didn't matter what level they were at athletically. He enjoyed watching someone in their 60s set a personal best, or seeing a young kid get better, or seeing an Olympian improve their time, even if only by milliseconds. This was our Jack; he was all about bringing the sport of running to the people.
All this to say, because of his passion for the sport and humanitarian mission to spread the word of fitness to the masses, he was often more than generous with his time and would share his knowledge with anyone who asked, often free of charge. He would take the time to answer anyone's questions; he would take calls and answer questions online from people around the world. He helped develop training plans because he loved it, and never asked for anything in return because this was just who he was.
For everything Jack gave to his family, his running communities, and to the world, we want to give something back. We hope you consider donating to help cover the costs of his funeral service and to set up a fund to cover future costs in his absence, so that the culmination of his life's work leaves its legacy without leaving a burden on his girls.
Thank you to Michelle Rauber and others for setting up this fundraiser.
