Hi, my name is Lisa and I am a social case worker for a local non-profit here in the Twin Cities. I met Jack in the fall of 2025 and (with his approval) I have started this fund. Knowing Jack’s story and recent struggles, along with my own personal experience with recovery, has inspired me to step in and try to help Jack. He deserves it.
Jack Strawder lives in Minneapolis and has been sober for 20 years. Since recovery, Jack has dedicated his life and work toward helping fathers in recovery, supporting them in sobriety so that they can win back custody of their children, participate in fatherhood, and rejoin their children’s lives. Jack’s vocation and life’s work began as a case manager at Urban Ventures, and eventually manager at the 'Center for Fathering'. For the last 8 years Jack has worked as an outreach coordinator at The Father Project with Goodwill Easter seals part time. He is also known for his work on the project 'The Man and I'. Jack has made positive, life-changing impacts on countless families’ lives in the Twin Cities. His compassion and commitment have helped many people find hope and a sense of stability during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
Now, Jack is facing a significant challenge of his own. He had a heart transplant three years ago and he faces another health diagnosis that requires ongoing care and support, which he cannot afford financially without our help. Jack diligently paid his monthly health insurance premiums to maintain coverage but has incurred a large amount of medical expenses from his transplant and recent diagnosis. Due to billing decisions made by the insurance carrier and health care providers to re-allocate payments to past due bills rather than his premiums, his health insurance coverage has lapsed through no fault of his own. Unfortunately, he does not qualify for county-based financial aid to help offset these costs because of his income being just slightly above the income limit, leaving him navigating a complex system and without access to critical services he desperately needs. This has made essential medical services inaccessible to Jack, making it impossible for him to focus on his own health and well-being, since he can't access the medical care. Jack needs $1942 to re-activate his health insurance. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward paying Jack's medical expenses, ensuring he can receive the care he needs to heal and continue living a full life.
Jack has always been there for others, offering support, mentorship and guidance when it was needed most. Now, it's our turn to give back. Your generosity will help him regain his health and continue making a difference in the lives of people in the twin cities. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help support someone who has given so much to his community. Thank You.
