Jack Kennon has always been the first person to step up for others. As the Volunteer Program Manager at Animal Care Centers of New York City, he has spent years helping animals and the people who care for them. Outside of work, Jack is the kind of person who never misses a celebration, never skips a chance to show up for the people he loves, and always finds time to lend a hand or shoulder.
In October 2025, Jack and Erin were married and began building their life together with Erin’s daughter, Willa, who is in sixth grade. When Jack’s not busy at the shelter and Erin’s free from tending to her family-run cafe, Campbell & Co., the two can be found watching a Knicks game, dancing at a concert, or exploring a new part of the city they love.
A lifelong New Yorker and devoted animal lover, Jack has opened his home to foster dogs over the years. He and his wife Erin now share their home with their rescue dog, Dolly. If the rule that “it takes 10,000 hours to achieve mastery” rings true, Jack is beyond mastery at providing hope, love and care for thousands of New York’s homeless animals.
Just months after their wedding, Jack received devastating news: he has been diagnosed with stage IV colon/liver cancer. At only 36 years old, he is now facing the fight of his life.
Jack is beginning immunotherapy and will need to step away from work for at least six months to focus fully on treatment and recovery. During this time, Erin will be navigating the emotional and financial strain that comes with a diagnosis like this. The loss of Jack’s income, combined with mounting medical bills, will place a significant burden on their family.
Those who know Jack know that he will approach this challenge the same way he approaches everything else in life: with determination, courage, and heart. He is ready to devote all his energy to fighting this disease and getting better.
We are asking for support to help ease the financial pressure on Jack and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Contributions will go toward covering lost income, medical expenses, and everyday household costs while Jack focuses on treatment.
If you’re able to donate, any amount will make a meaningful difference. And if you cannot give, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean just as much.
Jack has spent his life showing up for others. Now we have the chance to show up for him.
