Hello, my name is Robert Davis and I've known Jack Andrews for 57 years, since 8th grade. When we met we were like many kids our age, few worries or cares, as it should be. But those times didn't last. In our freshman year his dad past away suddenly and unexpectedly. Jack had to step up and take care of things in and around the house to help his mom and become a dad for his younger brother Jerry. He took on his new role and made things work. After High School, like most of us he worked at a variety of jobs to get by and took on a few classes at Butte Junior College. At one of those jobs he met a co-worker named Cheryl. She and Jack fell in love and eventually got married and had a son named Josh. After working at setting up mobile homes for some years Jack and a friend partnered up and started their own business "Jack and Jerry's Mobile Home Service. Jack worked in that industry for many years until a back injury forced him to seek less physical work. He and Cheryl managed and ran several mini storage facilities and mobile home parks over the years. When the fire hit Paradise, California on November 8th, 2018Jack was instrumental in warning and evacuating the residents of the park they were currently managing as the flames were cresting over the canyon edge and burning the homes located there, undoubtedly saving lives.
After the fire they relocated several times, always doing what it takes to get by and rebuild their lives. Within a year of the fire Jack was working as Project Coordinator in charge of setting up new manufactured homes for residents of Paradise thus helping others to get their lives back on track. They recently had a few financial setbacks due to circumstances beyond their control but as always, they bounced back and had just moved back to Chico from the coast and had gotten settled in a new job which came with a residence. Everything looked positive until Cheryl's sudden tragic passing. As big as a blow as losing his wife is, its now made worse by the sale of the mini storage that they were managing. Now Jack is now not only out of a job but will soon have no place to live. Jack has always been a kind, caring and giving person. When brother Jerry contracted a terminal illness early in his adult life. Jack and Cheryl took him into their home and cared for him until his passing. Later in life when he was semi-retired Jack donated countless hours at the Torres Community Shelter in Chico, helping to feed and clothe less fortunate people. If you can donate anything to help Jack out as he works through his grief and sorts things out it would be ever so greatly appreciated. I have no doubt that Jack will land on his feet - he always has and always will, he could just use a helping hand to get through this extremely difficult time.
