Support Jack and Lucy After Emergency Surgery

Hi, my name is Abby! My boyfriend Jack has a dog named Lucy who he absolutely adores. Lucy is a very energetic, loving girl! This Labor Day weekend, Lucy swallowed a ping pong ball. We took her to the vet where they first tried to make her throw it up, but that ended up not working. The next step was an endoscopy. They wanted to go straight into it, but since she was so dehydrated and her vitals were very off, they did not want to put her under anesthesia. They were also afraid that they would not be able to get the ping pong ball out because it is so slippery and round. So, they wanted to be prepared to go straight into surgery if the endoscopy didn't work. She stayed the night at the vet where they put her through liquids until her vitals came back to somewhat normal to put her under anesthesia. The next morning, they were able to do an endoscopy, but that ended up being unsuccessful, and they went straight into surgery. The surgery went amazing, and they were able to remove the ping pong ball without any complications. Lucy then had to stay another night after the surgery to make sure her vitals came all the way back to normal. But she is recovering very well!

We are very grateful for the doctors and nurses that were able to help Lucy. They were all so amazing and made Lucy feel really safe, and we felt like she was being well cared for. And although everything went well, the cost of everything has been a big shock to Jack. And if you have ever been to the vet you know that it is not close to cheap.
