Our son, Jabari, a 5th-grade student at KIPP Blytheville College Preparatory School, was violently attacked by a group of students during recess. What began as a normal school day turned into a terrifying medical emergency. Jabari was pulled across a wet and muddy playground, swung around, kicked, and punched by multiple students. The assault was so severe that he suffered a seizure and became unresponsive. Emergency responders rushed him by ambulance to Great River Medical Center, where doctors diagnosed him with a concussion, contusion, and a sprained shoulder. Since that day, Jabari has continued to experience seizures and severe anxiety related to the trauma he endured. Emotionally, Jabari is struggling. The fear, confusion, and trauma of that day continue to affect him. He now faces ongoing medical appointments, therapy, and counseling as he works to recover both physically and emotionally.
Right now, we are doing everything we can to make sure Jabari gets the care, support, and justice he deserves. This includes securing legal representation to investigate what happened and to ensure accountability for the failures that allowed this incident to occur. The financial burden of this situation has quickly grown beyond what we can manage alone. Medical bills, specialist visits, therapy sessions, counseling, travel for treatment, and legal fees are adding up rapidly. In addition, we are working to transfer Jabari into a different school system where he can feel safe, supported, and free from the fear of being bullied again. That is why we have created this GoFundMe. Jabari is a kind, bright, and loving boy who deserves the chance to feel safe, to heal, and to move forward with his life. Every prayer, every share, and every contribution—no matter the size—means more to our family than we can ever express. Thank you for standing with Jabari during this incredibly difficult time. With gratitude, Jabari’s Family
