Support J. Montgomery's Family in Overcoming Hardship

Donation protected
Hello, my name is J. Montgomery, and my family and I have had a very rough time recently. My mother and I are both hardworking individuals who have fallen upon bad luck that keeps stacking up. In 2019 she suffered a heart attack that had her out of work for quite some time. Almost 2 years ago, the two-family duplex my mother rented for the last 7 years was sold to someone looking to buy property in Detroit, and they immediately evicted my mom with not even a month's notice. She lost her garden, garage for her lawn tools, and peace of mind. She now has to deal with rent at her new small apartment and storage fees to keep all of her things that used to fit in a 3-bedroom home. She is now in an apartment a quarter of the size. At the start of the year, my mom suffered a heart attack and had to take work off from the plant she worked at for a few months. It was revealed to her recently that the truck she leased for the last year wouldn’t be able to be renewed as she no longer had enough working hours to get another, due to her missing time from the heart attack and recovery.

This was an issue but not something we worried about as I live very close to her and could provide her drives to work, the gym, and her garden that she tends to on another property. Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago, on the way home from one of my jobs at night, my front passenger tire blew out on the freeway from debris, tilting it and flattening the driver's side tires, causing the curtain airbags to deploy and having parts of the front of the car get caught in the undercarriage. CURE insurance totaled the car with almost $6k in damages/repairs. I’ve held down 3 jobs for the last year as it’s hard for me to find any full-time employment. Before this accident, I was let go by one, and I can no longer get to my second job as it was recently an unintentional bomb attack in a neighboring business. I only have one job I’m on the schedule for as of now, and it’s only thanks to one coworker who is helping me get back and forth from home and work.

I now barely make enough money for my rent and spent the little savings I had on previous car repairs. I am usually a proud person that tries to handle everything myself if I can, but I fear that the only way out of this pit would be with outside help, and we have nobody we can turn to. I’m humbly asking for $10,000 raised so I can afford a decent used car and to help my mom and I get to our jobs and so my mom can access her garden and have her creative outlet/hobby back.
