Hi friends,
I’m starting Habibi's Loaf Time, a small Detroit home-based microbakery making organic, plant-based, gluten-free sourdough for my southeast michigan community.
I’ve been baking gluten-free sourdough for the past two years, and it’s become one of the most grounding and nourishing things in my life. Now i’m ready to turn it into something real and consistent, a weekly offering I can grow over time.
I’m also doing this because i’m disabled & chronically ill, and I need a sustainable way to earn income from home. I live with Crohn’s disease and an ileostomy + all the complications that arise from persistent illness — which means staying nourished can be genuinely difficult! I rely on high-quality, nutrient-dense foods to keep my health & vitamins up, and I want to offer that same level of care to others.
To launch this winter, I’m raising $3,000 for the equipment and setup costs that will help me bake safely, efficiently, and at a small weekly scale.
Funds will go toward:
-an 18x60 stainless steel prep table (with bottom shelf)
-mixing bowls (small + large)
-proofing bowls
-storage
-cotton dish towels
-cast iron / dutch ovens (for consistent loaves + heat retention)
-start up bulk flours
Once the kitchen is set up, I'll be baking weekly for Friday and Saturday pickups, starting with:
-classic daily loaf
-sweet spice loaf
-za'atar loaf
If you can donate, share, or simply send encouragement, it truly helps more than i can say. Thank you for supporting small, accessible, homegrown nourishment.
With love,
izzy
