My dear friend Izu recently lost their job after being relentlessly harassed by a hate group that targeted them for who they are. This group not only flooded their workplace with calls but went as far as making bomb threats to the business. These repeated acts of intimidation have cost Izu their livelihood, their safety, and their peace of mind. No one should ever have to experience that level of hate or fear just for existing.
Thankfully, Izu isn’t alone. They have a safe place to land with me, and we’ve already secured an affordable spot where they can start fresh. New York is substantially more expensive than Seattle and they will be saving a lot of money by moving here. Moving here will allow Izu to rebuild their life in a supportive and loving environment, far away from the trauma and constant danger they’ve been facing. Together, we can make sure they have the chance to heal and get back on their feet.
We’re asking for $8,000 to make this move possible. About $1,000 will cover Izu’s Amtrak ticket and travel expenses, as flying isn’t currently an option given the unstable situation. The remaining $7,000 will go toward moving costs—getting them into the apartment, covering the first month’s rent and deposit, and shipping their belongings safely across the country.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help Izu take this critical step toward safety and stability. If you can’t contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign to help us reach more people who care about protecting others from targeted hate and violence.
Izu deserves a fresh start surrounded by kindness, not fear. Thank you for helping us make this move possible and showing what community and compassion can do when the world gets dark.
