My name is Lea, and I am the mother of Izabella Gomez. Our family is facing the most heartbreaking and difficult time of our lives after my daughter became the victim of a horrific drunk driving accident.
In the early morning hours of June 14, 2026, Izabella was in downtown Denver with her girlfriend and a friend. As they were legally crossing the street in a marked crosswalk at 20th and Larimer Street, a driver ran a red light and struck them. The driver, who reportedly has a history of drunk driving and criminal offenses, caused unimaginable devastation in a matter of seconds.
The impact was catastrophic. Izabella was dragged underneath the vehicle for more than half a block before the driver finally stopped. Videos of the incident have circulated on social media, but as her parents, we have chosen not to watch them. The pain of seeing our daughter fighting for her life is already more than we can bear.
Today, Izabella remains in the hospital with severe injuries. She faces a long road to recovery filled with surgeries, medical treatments, rehabilitation, and countless challenges. Watching your child lie in a hospital bed, fighting every day to heal, is something no parent should ever experience.
We are asking for help to ease the financial burden this tragedy has placed on our family. Donations will go toward Izabella's medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and monthly bills while she is unable to work and focus on healing.
If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share Izabella's story and keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Every donation, share, and message of support means more to our family than words can express.
Thank you for standing with Izabella as she begins the difficult journey toward recovery.
With gratitude,
Gomez Family
