Hello everyone, on November 5th, 2024 I had adopted my sweet Ivy Rose when she was just 14 weeks old ❤️ She is now about 10 months old. Since having her she has completed my life in more ways than I can count. Moving out to Arizona I knew it was time to get the kitten I’ve always wanted as a child and here she is. She is the most sweetest, loving, playful, cuddly kitten I have EVER met. I would do absolutely anything for her and that’s where we begin our story.
On Thursday, 5/8/25 I had started noticing Ivy sleeping a lot more, eating/drinking very little, barely going to the bathroom, and no interest to play. Over the next couple days I monitored her, she had only been getting a bit worse.
On Monday, 5/12/25 I took her to the vet. During that visit she had a fever of 103. They did blood work and gave her fluids and sent me home.
On Tuesday morning, 5/13/25 I got the call from the vet saying her white blood cell count was “through the roof”. They sent her blood work back in to test for FelV and FIV, gave me an appetite stimulant liquid (Elura) to get her to eat and an antibiotic liquid (Clavamox) for her possible infection. I started her on these meds as soon as I got home Tuesday afternoon, which I continued until Friday night, 5/16/25.
On Wednesday, 5/14/25, the vet called me back stating her test results for FelV and FIV came back negative. The vet said to continue her on the antibiotics for the next 10 days as well as the appetite stimulant until she’s eating regular again.
On Thursday, 5/15/25 I thought she started to feel a little better, played a little bit but still not eating as much. She did not like either of the medications.
On Friday, 5/16/25 I woke up to multiple piles of spit up, and a couple piles of poop on the carpet. I watched her take a couple bits of food around 10am and then she never ate or drank anything else for the rest of the day, nor used the bathroom. As I was getting ready for bed I noticed she kept spitting up after giving her 2nd dose of antibiotics for the day, her ears bright red as well as above her eyes/ eyebrows, very red and blood spots that appeared in that area, she was also shaking. I rushed her to the ER at 1:30am on Saturday, 5/17/25 (today) where they assessed her and at this point her fever is now 105. I let the doctors know what medicines she was on, they quickly told me to stop the appetite stimulant (Elura) because of the crazy side effects this medicine has caused, which they then told me they don’t even sell anymore at their office because of the horrible side effects and outcomes of this medication, I was so shaken up by this. The doctors wrote me up an estimate of almost $4,600 for all the work that needed to be done (which is not including the money I have already spend at the vet). I almost fainted… but I knew my babygirl NEEDED to be taken care of. I pleaded with them as no payment options were available for me because of my unemployment status as well as my credit. I was at a loss. They ended up giving her fluids, an anti nausea medication and an appetite stimulant that they put on her ear and sent me home. They told me to get to my vet as soon as possible. So I did, I didn’t sleep and stayed awake with her for the next 3 hours until the vet opened, there I told them everything that had been going on and how I was in the ER with her all night. The vet checked her temp which was at 103, dropping from 105 which is good but still a high fever in cats. They gave her more fluids and antibiotic injections into her legs, meaning I have stopped all oral medication.
I am now home with Ivy monitoring her, afraid to go to sleep. She did finally eat a few bites of food and took a few sips of water after 24 hours of not eating or drinking.
This has been extremely difficult and has financially put me in a hole of no end in sight. I have lost my job, I’m in the process of moving back home and now thousands of dollars in vet bills to make sure my babygirl gets the care she needs.
I wanna thank you for reading this far, but I wanted everyone to know every detail of what has been going on with my baby and I and the financial toll this has taken on me and my family.
Anything will help, if you cannot donate I ask you to PLEASE share this. I would appreciate it tremendously and I know Ivy would as well.
I love you all, and thank you in advance❤️
