**Update** Ivan has had his surgery to remove his eye. It was worse than they initially thought and they are doing everything possible to make sure that he will be able to have a prosthetic. He is recovering well! He has lost part of his thumb and it has been stabilized so he cannot use it right now. He also lost part of his pinky but he should be able to use it with therapy!

On 9/10 Ivan had a horrific accident that he is determined to not let stop him. While his mom, Kira, was in Florida for a military training class, she got a call from a neighbor telling her that her son was fighting for his life after a tragic accident. Ivan was at a friend’s gun range and a muzzle loader exploded in Ivan’s hand. By some miracle and with some guardian angels, Ivan made it almost 1/2 mile and up a steep embankment to find help. Kira immediately drove from Florida to Tennessee on Red Cross orders to be by her son’s side.

By the grace of God, Ivan lived, but he has lost an eye and part of a couple of fingers. Twelve days later, and he has already had 7 surgeries, will require a prosthetic for his eye, more surgeries for his hand, and a lot of therapy. As we all know, these things are super expensive and insurance only covers so much. It is my hope that we can all get together and help ease some of the stress that these expenses bring.
