Our family’s life changed in an instant when our toddler was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Watching our little boy Ivan go through this battle has been the hardest thing we’ve ever faced, but he continues to show incredible strength every single day.

I am currently pregnant with our third baby and staying home to care for our children, while my husband is working day and night to try to keep everything afloat. Between hospital visits, treatments, and trying to maintain some sense of normalcy for our family, this journey has been overwhelming.

We travel to UC Davis multiple times a week for blood draws, chemotherapy, and ongoing care. The constant back-and-forth, along with unexpected medical expenses, gas, meals, and everyday bills, has placed a heavy financial strain on our family.

La vida de nuestra familia cambió en un instante cuando a nuestro pequeño le diagnosticaron rabdomiosarcoma embrionario, una forma rara y agresiva de cáncer. Ver a nuestro hijo atravesar esta batalla ha sido lo más difícil que hemos vivido, pero cada día nos demuestra una fortaleza increíble.

Actualmente estoy embarazada de nuestro tercer bebé y soy ama de casa, mientras que mi esposo trabaja día y noche para poder mantenernos. Entre las visitas al hospital, los tratamientos y tratar de mantener algo de normalidad para nuestra familia, este proceso ha sido abrumador.

Viajamos a UC Davis varias veces a la semana para análisis de sangre, quimioterapia y atención continua. Los constantes traslados, junto con los gastos médicos inesperados, gasolina, comidas y las cuentas del día a día, han generado una gran carga financiera para nuestra familia.
