Support Items for Frontline Nurses
Donation protected
Nurses around the world are burning-out, overworked, stressed, and even starting to feel helpless. We have been, and continue, to treat those with COVID for over 18 months. At the same time, countless other members of our society have required complex medical attention and sought our care. Our lives are forever changed, both personally and professionally. While verbal support, signs in lawns, and banners at hospitals are kind encouragements, I feel it is time to do a little more.
I am here asking for whatever level of donation you feel comfortable with in order to purchase and compile some small packages of items to help keep the nurses on my unit physically and mentally cared for.
There are approximately 130 nurses on my unit* and I would like to provide each with the following items:
- Debit card with funds for much-needed caffeine and food (minimum $10, will increase if goal surpassed)
- Cleaning wipes for phones and ID badges
- Disinfectant skin wipes for before we head home
- Car interior disinfectant wipes to help prevent germ spread away from work
- Water bottle with protected mouthpiece to attempt to stay hydrated during long shifts
- Healing lotion for alcohol-cracked hands
- Compression socks for 12+ hours on our feet
- Drawstring backpack to store and transport items safely
I would also like to purchase 2 UV disinfection cases for the unit. These would allow staff to place phones, keys, badges, rings, and any other small items inside for a quick (3 minute) disinfection treatment!
With your help, I hope we can say a small thank you for the immense sacrifices being made every shift.
As items are purchased and compiled I will upload photos to show the finished products as well as photos and thanks from the nurses receiving your support.
Thank you all for your continued support, thoughts, and donations!
Don't forget to share this with your social networks!
*If this initial fund is a success, I would love to hear ideas from everyone on future items we could provide, or even ideas on how we can expand these packages beyond our one unit.
